PIVOT! When Congress Eliminates Funding

Many organizations have seen programs cut this year. Shifting and reorganizing have become commonplace, indiscriminate practices.

In the early hours of July 18, the House of Representatives passed the Senate-amended Rescissions Act, eliminating all previously approved funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Fiscal Years 2026 and 2027. The bill passed by a vote of 216 to 213. This legislation defunds public media for the first time in our nation's history.  The impact is significant.  The effect on Discover Classical is $140,000.
