“Data-Driven Fundraising: Making Your Data Bigger and Smarter”

If we collect and maintain data on our fundraising constituents, our in-house databases can not only enhance fundraising activities, but can also guide decision-making at the highest levels of our organizations. This session will address how to use in-house information to not only identify potential prospects but increase knowledge of donor trends and behaviors within your overall prospect base. The presenters will discuss the data they have gathered, coded, and analyzed, and how their findings were used to collaborate with colleagues in order to maximize fundraising opportunities.

About the Speakers:

Lisa Hornick is the Director of Advancement Research & Prospect Management at Wright State University and served as Campaign Manager for Rise. Shine. The Campaign for Wright State University, which raised nearly $168 million. For the past 20+ years, she has enjoyed using prospect and grant research to match donor passions with meaningful projects. She has a BA in Journalism from the University of Dayton, a certificate in American Sign Language, and has completed graduate coursework in Human Services at WSU. She serves on the development committees of several local non-profit organizations, and nearly all of her free time is consumed with being a theater mom, running her kids to rehearsals all over town. She absolutely loves all of the performing arts opportunities that Dayton has to offer and is happy to have made her home here.

Rob E. Boley is the Associate Director of Advancement Research & Prospect Management at Wright State University. As such, he supports the fundraising efforts at the university by providing prospect research, data analysis, data mining, prospecting, and reporting. He’s worked in various areas of development at Wright State University since 1999, including annual giving, alumni relations, and grant-writing at the Boonshoft School of Medicine. He has a BA and MA in English from Wright State. He also writes scary books, stories, and poems. You can get to know him better at www.robboley.com.
