Fundraising Day Session Summaries

“From Hello to Major Gifts: Building a Corps of Individual Donors”
Presenter: Marianne Gorczyca, Senior Counsel, Hodge Group
Time: 9:00am to 10:15am

Especially designed for the ‘small shop,’ this session helps development professionals learn how and where to focus their efforts for maximum effect.  From assembling a database, to developing the message and researching donors, you’ll get a ‘soup to nuts’ overview that ends with specific tips about knowing when and how to ask for the gift.

“Capital Campaigns:  They’re Not as Hard as You Think”
Presenter: Pam Bruns, President, The Cause Consultancy

This session will focus on a series of practical, best practice steps to test, plan and conduct a successful capital or endowment campaign.  Recommended for professionals who want to learn  how to: determine if their organization is ready for a capital campaign; set a realistic campaign goal;  identify and recruit campaign volunteers; create a great prospect list; and set up a simple process to ensure that the work gets done and the goal is reached.

New Tools to Successfully Fundraise Using Social Media”

Learn how to advance your social media presence by adopting a solid strategy for effectiveness and implementing strong fundraising fundamentals.  Whether you are new to social media or a total tech geek, you’ll come away with new ideas and ways to improve your organization’s awareness, fundraising, and donor relationships.

“Data-Driven Fundraising: What Does it Really Mean?”

Allison Fine, co-author of the new book, The Networked Nonprofit, will discuss the convergence of social media, social networks and nonprofit organizations. She will describe the hurdles nonprofits need to overcome to lose their fears of losing control and evolve to meet the informational and cultural needs of today's donor and volunteer. The Networked Nonprofit offers specific strategies for implementation, exercises, how-tos, and secrets to success, drawing on in-depth interviews with current nonprofit managers that have used new social media tools effectively.
