Speedway SuperAmerica LLC (SSA) has been a generous supporter of the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton since 1992 through the Company’s involvement with the Children’s Miracle Network, an international non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals in the United States. Additionally, the Company is a major participant in the United Way campaigns of Clark, Champaign and Madison Counties, making a significant impact for Ohio families; and it supports educational initiatives with the Victoria Theatre Association and Wright State University.
The leadership exemplified by the corporate president continues throughout the Company as all members of the SSA team strive to do their best in supporting the communities in which they serve. The current vice president of operations serves on the national Children’s Miracle Network Board of Governors, helping to enhance the sponsor fundraising program. Locally, each region manager works with the district managers to raise awareness about the importance of giving back to the community through their support of Dayton Children’s. District managers provide strong leadership by encouraging store employees to participate and be creative in their fundraising efforts.
Since 1992, Speedway and its customers have contributed over $1.8 million to Dayton Children’s, helping children and families during their time of need. SSA, through the generosity of its customers has contributed more than $27 million to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals throughout the U.S.
SSA also conducts a United Way campaign locally with their associates in their corporate headquarters in Enon, Ohio. The Executive Director of the United Way of Clark, Champaign and Madison Counties said that the leadership is evident from the top down and from the bottom up, serving as a best practice for other companies to follow.
SSA has conducted several initiatives that have impacted the Clark and Champaign communities directly. They developed “Hope Corner” into a special playground for homeless children in Springfield. Most recently, SSA helped renovate the “Caring Kitchen” in Urbana by creating a more cheerful and functional environment. SSA employees retiled floors, painted walls and provided furniture, new freezers and food pantry shelving.
Hundreds of families, and specifically children, benefit from the generous community support SSA provides. SSA embraces a culture of caring through the public demonstration of each employee living the Company’s values.
